Gulets are based on traditionally-built Mediterranean trading ships.
Salamander is a stunning traditional wooden 26metre (86ft) gulet/gullet/gulette (from the French goulette) built in 1996 in a famous boatyard at Icmeler outside Bodrum in Turkey.
Our gulet is "ketch" rigged, with 2 masts setting up to 5 sails.
Unlike many gulets where the sails remain furled all season, Salamander sails whenever the conditions suit, and our guests are welcome to join in if they wish.
There are 2 x 240HP MAN turbo diesels allowing around 10 knots under power.
A 33kVa generator provides electricity and runs the airconditioning in the evenings.
There is ample space for up to 12 guests in 6 comfortable double cabins (4 double bedded cabins and 2 with a double and a single), each with their own shower and toilet. The beds have Egyptian cotton sheets and soft pillows. All cabins have hairdriers, and cooling fans as well as the art time airconditioning.
Some guests choose to sleep on deck under the stars, a truly magical experience.
The crew have their own separate accommodation.
On the aft deck under the cool shade of an awning is the dining table where your meals are served al fresco.
There is a massive cushioned seating area right in the stern if you wish to relax out of the sun, and 12 sunbeds and various seating areas on deck if you want to improve your tan.
The seating area in the bows is a delightful place for evening drinks while you watch your dinner being barbequed by the Captain (turned chef's helper for the evening).
With almost 2000 ft2/ 190m2 of deck space on the goulette you can always find privacy away from your fellow guests when you need a little peace, and at all times the warm seas are just a set of steps or a dive away.
Most of our guests are amazed by the size and stability of Salamander, photographs still do not tell the full story, so ask for our DVD.

When sailing in Turkey your own private chef will offer you a wide variety of excellent Turkish cuisine throughout your stay.
Turkish food is rightly respected for its healthy balance and inventiveness, generally offering much greater variety than its Greek neighbour.
You are served breakfast, lunch and dinner each day, but we kindly ask you to eat ashore twice during each week to give the chef a well-earned rest.
We offer free tea, coffee and water with dinner.
Soft drinks, mixers, beer and excellent local wines are available within the holiday price. Spirits should continue to be purchased by you duty free on your outbound journey, as they are prohibitively expensive in Turkey.
We have avoided the standard gullet expensive bar system, as we know from our own experience that being presented with a huge bill as you prepare to fly home can take the shine off a superb holiday!
The crew of 4 comprises your own experienced Captain, with whom you will agree your itinerary when sailing in Turkey or the Greek islands and any changes you wish to make on a daily basis.
He is supported by a bosun and a deckhand, and the talented chef also helps with boat handling when required. Please note that if you wish travel under sail late into the afternoon, your dinner will be served later, as the chef is an essentail art of the sailing team!
Salamander is unique amongst gulets in Turkey in that she carries 1 Pico and 1 Topaz dinghy for the use of the charter party, as well as the usual windsurfer, 2 canoes and a brand new 4.8m RIB with 70HP outbord suitable for waterskiing. Waterskiing is charged at £30 per 30 minutes, and id payable before you depart.
The crew are also pleased to arrange scuba diving lessons, parasailing and waterskiing locally if you wish. These are available at a relatively modest cost.
