Have a look at the plan view under Gulet Specification. Salamander has 6 double cabins for the guests, plus entirely separate crew accommodation in the bow and stern. There are 4 en-suite guest cabins with double beds, and 2 slightly larger cabins with both a double and a single bed. Each cabin has its own air conditioning outlet, and offers plenty of shelving and some hanging space. We supply hair driers, Egyptian cotton sheets, soft pillows and blankets or quilts depending on temperature.
Each cabin has its own private bathroom with a basin with hot and cold water, a separate shower and a flush W.C. We provide shower and swimming towels on sailing holidays in Turkey.
We only rent out our gulet Salamander as a complete boat by the week [known as Exclusive Charter as opposed to Cabin Charter when on gulets Turkey], and you can book her for 1 week or 2. At present when sailing Turkey and Greek islands we generally do not offer rental by cabin, as we feel you may not want to be in close quarters for a week with people you do not know. From time to time in low season we intend to offer themed weeks for painters, bridge players, and those interested in ancient ruins. If you want us to arrange such a week for a group of friends please do let us know. Watch this gulet charter website for more details and please let us know if you would enjoy specialist interest Turkey cruises and gulet holidays.
You can take up to 12 persons in your party on Salamander, but many choose to travel with 6, 8 or 10. We are also able to offer you larger gulets with capacity for 14 to 16 under our management on request. Equally we can offer you smaller gulets or tirhandels for groups of 8 or less.
The lovely gulet Salamander has very much more space and comfort than a typical charter yacht- Turkey being a hot climate makes additional space a real bonus both for relaxation and entertainment. The boat is large enough to accommodate all 12 in considerable comfort, but is still very good value if you choose to travel with less. We regularly have parties made up of extended families, 2 or more families, or just a group of good friends. In recent years we are pleased to have hosted several '3 generation' parties celebrating 70th and even 80th birthdays, and 'significant' wedding anniversaries. It's a great way for grandparents to spend quality time with their children and grandchildren, with the crew available to help carry the load when required!
Yes, we are pleased to arrange for 2 or more gullets to travel in company for larger parties if you give us plenty of notice please. Equally we can arrange to offer you a larger gulet for parties of 14 or 16, or smaller tirhandels if you are 8 persons or less. These will be under our management.
There are 3 to 4 crew on Salamander on your gulet holidays. Your fully qualified Captain leads the local team. His main responsibility is your enjoyment whilst ensuring the safety of the boat and guests/crew on gulet charter or gulet holidays. Secondly the all important Chef, about whom you can read more under 'food and drink'. His role in constantly delighting you with exciting new dishes is essential to the enjoyment of your gulet holidays. The Chef is also a very experienced seaman and is an essential part of running the boat, including standing in for the Captain as required. Thirdly we have a Bosun/Steward, who handles the anchor, mooring ropes, sails, engineering, maintenance and so on, and is responsible for guest service. He also helps the Chef cook and serve the meals. Finally a deckhand - often training in gulet holidays and handling gulets in the Bodrum Sea School who carries out a variety of duties, and works with the steward in keeping the cabins and bathrooms fresh and clean and your gulets Turkey is very enthusiastic about increasing the skill sets of those who work on gulets. Our Shore Manager may also join you for a few days to see that all your needs are being looked after. The crew are very skilled at making sure you enjoy yourselves when sailing Turkey or just relaxing at anchor, but keeping out of your way when not required. They are also very proud of the rich heritage of their country and would be pleased to help you to get under its skin.
Your own private chef will offer you a wide variety of excellent Turkish cuisine throughout your stay.
Turkish food is rightly respected for its healthy balance and inventiveness, generally offering much greater variety than its Greek neighbour.
You are served breakfast, lunch and dinner each day, but we kindly ask you to eat ashore twice during each week to give the chef a well-earned rest.
We offer free tea, coffee and water with dinner, along with free house wines, beers and soft drinks,
Spirits should continue to be purchased by you duty free on your outbound journey, as they are prohibitively expensive in Turkey.
We have avoided the standard gullet expensive bar system, as we know from our own experience that being presented with a huge bill as you prepare to fly home can take the shine off a superb holiday!
